My art school training was in the classical tradition: learning about human anatomy, working from nude live models (and putting clothes on them only after the correct anatomy had been established underneath).For about twenty years I worked almost exclusively on traditional realist figurative sculpture, including numerous portraits.  Human beings have infinite variations of physical shape and expressive gesture, so the possibilities are endless.
